Publishing messages

When you save a block, Block Hero sends the change to your store in the background. If Shopify doesn’t accept it, the block is marked Not published.
What it meansYour last save on this block didn’t reach your store. Your store is still showing the previous version of the block. Your changes are saved in Block Hero and nothing is lost. The banner shows the reason and the time of the last attempt. What to do
  1. Click Try again on the banner.
  2. Wait for the message at the bottom of the screen. Published to your store means it worked.
  3. If you see Couldn’t publish to your store. Try again. again, wait a few minutes and try once more. If it keeps failing, contact us with the block name.
What it meansThis banner appears on the Scheduler home page. One block’s last save didn’t reach your store, so your store is still showing the previous version of it. The banner names the block and the reason. What to doClick Try again on the banner, or click View block to open the block first. You can also click the block’s … menu in the list and choose Try again.
What it meansMore than one block didn’t reach your store. The banner lists each block by name. Your store is still showing their previous versions. What to doOpen each block and click Try again on its banner. Blocks that need attention show a Not published badge in the list.
What it meansYou clicked Try again and Shopify hasn’t answered yet. The update is still being sent. What to doWait a minute, then reload the page. If the Not published badge is gone, the change is live. If the red banner is still there, click Try again.

Messages when you save a schedule

What it meansYou tried to save a schedule with nothing in it.What to doClick Add content block, fill in the content, then save again.
What it meansSome blocks hold a fixed number of items per schedule. A Media Grid (2) holds 2 tiles and a Collection Grid holds up to 4. Once a schedule is full, the form shows Content limit reached with the count, for example (2/2).What to doEdit or remove an item that’s already in the schedule. To show different tiles at another time, create a new schedule for those dates. See Create a schedule.
What it meansThe end date and time are the same as, or earlier than, the start. What to doPick a later end date or time. If the content should run with no end, tick No end date instead.
What it meansA block shows one schedule at a time, so two schedules on the same block can’t cover the same dates. A schedule can start at the exact moment another one ends. What to doChange the dates so they don’t overlap, or edit the other schedule first. A schedule with no end date covers every date after its start, so give it an end date to make room for a later one. See When content goes live.
What it meansYou see this on an Image Banner or Media Banner block. These blocks show one banner at a time, so two pieces of content can’t cover the same dates. Content you’ve set to inactive by hand doesn’t count. What to doChange the dates, or edit the content that’s already scheduled for those dates.
What it meansOn an Image Banner or Media Banner block, the content named in the message runs with no end date, so there’s no free time for new content. What to doOpen that content and give it an end date, then schedule the new content after it.

Content isn’t showing on my store

A Block Hero block shows content on your store only when all of these are true. On your live store, a block that’s missing one of them shows nothing. In the theme editor, it shows a grey box that names the problem.
What it meansBlock Hero content appears through an app block that you add in the theme editor, such as Image Banner, Media Banner, Media Grid (2), Collection Grid or Collection List. Without it, the page has nowhere to show your content. What to doAdd the app block to the page in the theme editor and save. See Schedule your first block.
What it meansEach app block has a Block ID setting that tells it which Block Hero block to show. If it’s empty, or doesn’t match a block in Block Hero, nothing appears. If you paste the Block ID of a different type of block (for example a Collection Grid ID into a Media Grid (2) app block), nothing appears either. What to do
  1. In Block Hero, open the block and find Add to theme editor.
  2. Click Copy next to Block ID.
  3. In the theme editor, select the app block, paste the ID into Block ID, and save.
What it meansA block set to Disabled shows nothing on your store, even when it has content scheduled. What to doOpen the block and set Status to Enabled, then save. You can also click the block’s … menu on the Scheduler home page and choose Enable block. See Turn a block on or off.
What it meansThe block only shows content whose dates include right now. If every schedule has ended or hasn’t started yet, the block shows nothing. What to doCheck the block’s schedules and their dates. Add a schedule that covers today, or change the dates of an existing one. See Statuses.
What it meansIf the block shows Not published, your store is still showing the previous version. What to doOpen the block and click Try again. See Publishing messages above.
